I want to start off by saying that we a regular family. REGULAR. We watch television, drink pop (read: soda if you're not a Michigander) and have student loans. Having said that, we also have regular issues, issues that are shared by millions of Americans: We like stuff and need certain conveniences. I'm sure there are many who would ask what is wrong with liking stuff and making life easier? A lot of people would answer nothing, that is essentially the American dream. There is nothing wrong with liking material things or enjoying the convenience that living in a developed nation affords us, however has financing your infatuation for stuff and the "need" for conveniences over taken your life? Are you making wise financial decisions? Do you have any savings? If you were fired tomorrow how long could you function at the level that you are right now? Most importantly, are you being a good shepherd of the things that God has given you? Based on the answer to these questions you may have a problem, my family certainly does.

My husband and I have taken some time to really examine our lifestyle and realized that yes, we do have a problem. We worked through a plan to get our lives under control and have started implementing it. The point of this blog is to share our current journey and share what we are doing in the hopes of helping others with their own journeys.

Here's some upfront information that I would like to get out the way now: there will be links to websites, services,  products and books but we will NEVER be paid for you clicking links or subscribing to services. We will only share things that we have tried ourselves and feel comfortable sharing with you. Good or bad, our opinions will never be influenced by compensation and thus the easiest way to avoid that is to refuse to be compensated for our thoughts. The purpose of this blog is to share our experiences in the hopes of helping others, not to make money. Anything posted will always be free to access and share.

Lastly, when I link products, please don't feel obligated to buy the exact item I posted. Do you have something in your possession that might work? Do you think the product is best for your family? Do some research, then make wise and informed decisions. If you find an alternative, please comment and share. Your experiences might help someone else.

Onto the intro......

Hi! I'm Kellan, my family and I, are going to walk you through some changes that we're making to be better stewards of the resources that God has given us. We're going to make some mistakes as well as have some victories but it is all for our betterment and ultimately God's glory.

As of this posting, my husband and I are both 31 years old, we have three children affectionately called Tres (5 years old), Miah (4 years old), and Abba Bear (7 months). We attended undergrad together studying business, I majored in accounting and he majored in marketing, I went on to get a master's degree in accounting. Today I work from home mostly as an accountant and business consultant, and the Hubs works a regular day job. Oh, and we homeschool!

I pray that reading about our journey will bless you and motivate you to seek God regarding His desires for your family.
